They let her promo Chyna Doll on there, perform for Spring Break and even gave her the Real World commercial with Stylin & her reality show that never came out She had it all right there, she just didn’t capitalize off it and move correctly. Like how Common raps, acts and is still a “voice”. She coulda easily pivoted in that Common type of career. Then around 2005 when things started looking up for she was going on HBCU tours with Al Sharpton speaking to students and even doing speeches for Winnie Mandela. Foxy lost her role as Alex in Charlie’s Angels because of legal troubles. However she said Eve played it JUST a little nicer so she could get her foot in the doors. The lady also said Eve was very similar to Foxy in the way that she didn’t care for the industry shit. Then when Jay brought her back on Def Jam he had Fox rejuvenate ALL her broken bridges and everybody was gearing up to be behind her for her next album then boom the hearing loss. Then she got her Ill Na Na Fever album shelved for calling Lyor a devil on Wendy. Broken Silence went gold in a few weeks but woulda went platinum had she dropped Candy. Then Chyna Doll, the voice change threw people off even tho it still went platinum. She said for one, Ill Na Na actually was outselling Hardcore. She said Foxy actually had a much higher ceiling than Kim for several reasons. She worked in the industry for a long time. Last year on the anniversary of Ill Na Na, this woman I’ll try to find her name. Ill Nana, Chyna Doll& Broken Silence still hits hard for me. I'm still a huge fan of her old work though. I was referring to her antics that were totally separate to that. I know that played a huge part in her career going the way it did, she never really sounded the same on the mic ever since. I'm mentioning all of this outside her unfortunate hearing loss situation btw. The saying "you can take _ out the hood but you can't take it out of them" rings so true to Foxy.
Foxy had raw talent but didn't know when to take the hood out of her when necessary.
She wasn't trying to be buddy buddy with people in that world. Inga only liked the flashy things, but that was it. It was Kim who loved the celebrity world and was made for it. You can tell she wasn't really cut out for the celebrity lifestyle - that was Kim. I feel like she could have been bigger as a star if she straightened up a bit. Her extensive feuds, bridges burnt, legal troubles, unprofessionalism etc. Foxy's career is always sad to hear about.
